Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the extent to which he has managed to convey to the banking sector the urgent financial requirements in terms of expenditure by pig producers in order to comply with animal welfare legislation; if he satisfied that the necessary compliance measures are likely to be completed by 1 January next; if any interim measures are contemplated in the event of any failure to meet the deadline; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
