Durkan asked the Minister for Health the extent to which waiting periods for various procedures have been reduced in respect of all public hospitals without exception; the extent to which the waiting period for patients to meet the consultant has been reduced in line with best practice and in comparison to the private sector; the extent to which studies and comparisons continue with the private sector in this regard; if any particular initiatives are required to address any specifically sensitive areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
