Deputy Micheál Martin asked the Minister for Education and Skills her views on the findings of a new survey of guidance counsellors (details supplied) which found that 69% of respondents in the free education scheme reported a decrease in guidance hours in 2012-13 compared to 44% in the fee-charging sector and that the cuts to guidance counselling services are affecting students with the greatest need for the service; and the measures she plans to take to reverse the deterioration of guidance counselling services in schools.
