PQ 97

97. Deputy Tony McLoughlin asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he will conduct a cost benefit analysis of central purchasing which, while reducing the cost to Departments and agencies, threatens the viability of many smaller companies who have, and are supplying, goods and services on a regional and local basis to Government offices, schools and hospitals; if he will justify his policy of saving public money, on one hand, and on the other hand risking the loss of jobs to small indigenous supplier companies; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
