That this House expresses its admiration for the courage displayed by the women leading the Long March to Islamabad from across Balochistan to raise awareness of the disappearances, abductions and killings associated with the operations of Pakistan's Counter Terrorism Department; notes that there have been violent attacks on the marching protesters by the Police; and calls upon the Government to raise its concerns about the violation of fundamental human rights against the people of Balochistan with the Pakistani government.

That this House places on record its thanks and appreciation for the tremendous work and dedication of Valerie Mohammedi and the volunteers of Hillingdon Play Association, as well as Donna Crook and her team of staff volunteers from Hasbro, for providing such wonderful play opportunities for children in Hillingdon and the recent Winterfest children's day, when every child met Father Christmas and went home with a lovely present.

United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 18 December 2014
That this House commends and supports campaigners in their ongoing fight to save the Independent Living Fund (ILF) on which nearly 18,000 disabled people with high-support needs rely to live with choice and control in life instead of going into residential care; notes the failure of the High Court case taken by two ILF recipients to stop the Government closing the ILF in June 2015, while noting the judge's comment that the Minister was made fully aware of the inevitable and considerable adverse effect that closure would have on disabled people; further notes that the judge declined to rule on whether the closure may put the UK in breach of its international obligations to advance disabled people's rights to independent living and equality of opportunity under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; and reminds all parliamentarians that, as part of Operation Disabled Vote, manifestos and pledges will be measured against the precepts of international human rights as well as of social justice by 12.2 million disabled voters.
United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 15 December 2014
That this House supports workers at the housing charity Shelter in defending their terms and conditions and the service they provide to clients struggling with bad housing and homelessness; condemns the cuts to pay of up to £5,000 a year already implemented for new staff and threatened for existing staff which primarily affect the lowest-paid frontline service staff; disputes that Shelter must cut pay in order to compete for contracts; notes that the ability of staff to offer an excellent service is Shelter's strongest competitive advantage; further notes that cuts to pay will undermine Shelter's ability to recruit and retain the best staff; and calls on the management of Shelter to withdraw the proposals to cut pay for staff.

United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 20 November 2012

A Bill to provide that the appointment and dismissal of the Governor of the Bank of England be subject to the consent of a Committee of the House of Commons; and for connected purposes.
United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 20 December 2010
That this House considers that large scale bonuses for bankers and/or the use of the device of converting these bonuses into sizeable salary increases will be viewed by the British people, whose taxes were used to bail out the banking system, as obscene and unacceptable; and therefore calls on the Government to introduce immediately a windfall tax on these bonuses and untoward salary increases.
United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 16 December 2010
That this House condemns the email sent to music colleges by X Factor researchers offering work at industry agreed rates to `camera friendly' female violinists; notes that this offer was based on the condition that applicants were not to be Musicians' Union members; believes that this not only discriminates against trade union members, it also discriminates on the grounds of sex; believes that a successful show like the X Factor should be setting a good example and paying its musicians a decent wage; and condemns discrimination of any kind.
United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 30 June 2010
A Bill to amend section 232B of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 to extend the circumstances in which, by virtue of that section, industrial action is not to be treated as excluded from the protection of section 219 of that Act.
United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 17 December 2007
That this House notes that the City is expected to hand out £7.4 billion in bonuses this year; further notes that the International Monetary Fund has branded the City an onshore tax haven for its role in helping companies dodge tax, and that Britain has many offshore tax havens including Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man; believes that there is a strong case for a windfall tax on City bonuses; and calls on the Government to take steps to end the tax avoidance culture in Britain which, as War on Want has shown, mostly damages developing countries who lose out on £250 billion per year in lost tax revenue as a direct result of corporate tax avoidance.
United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 17 December 2007
That this House notes with concern that the Chancellor's statement on the loss of data by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) failed to make reference to the impact of job cuts and budget cuts in HMRC, including the loss of 158 jobs in HMRC's Information Management Services in the last six months, cost cutting meaning that the Department may have been unable to afford the costs associated with filtering the child benefit data for the National Audit Office and the failure to ensure that the manual on protective security referred to by the Government is available to the majority of staff; and urges the Government to halt the job cuts, examine the role of the private sector and ensure that HMRC has the resources it needs to restore public trust.
United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 19 December 2006
That this House notes that city bonuses this Christmas are estimated to be £9 billion, with over 4,000 city workers receiving over £1 million each; further notes that the work of the Tax Justice Network that shows the UK tax gap is between £90 to £154 billion due to tax avoidance by wealthy individuals and companies; is disappointed that wealth inequality has continued to widen in the last decade; and therefore urges the Government to impose a windfall tax on city Christmas bonuses.
United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 18 December 2006
That this House notes that 31st December 2006 is the fourth anniversary of the beginning of the imposition of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) on London which fragmented and privatised London Underground's infrastructure; notes that under the terms of the PPP, multinational companies, Atkins, Balfour Beatty, Bombardier Transportation, EDF Energy, RWE Thames, Amey and Bechtel are responsible for the maintenance and renewal of the Underground's track, trains, signals, stations and escalators; is concerned that whilst these companies have made tens of millions of pounds in publicly-subsidised profits there are still frequent service disruptions and closures; fears that the continued failure of the PPP will disrupt London's hosting of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games; further notes that on the mainline railway, where Network Rail has bought maintenance back in-house on a not-for-dividend basis, punctuality and efficiency has been significantly improved; believes that the PPP has proved to be an expensive mistake; and therefore calls on the Government to bring forward the necessary legislative changes to abolish the PPP and allow for maintenance and renewals to be bought back in-house under the control of London Underground.
