Stop the flats in Llandudno being refurbished to house asylum seekers

United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 18 December 2025

Stop the flats in Llandudno being refurbished to house asylum seekers and support local citizens instead. These flats are intended for asylum seekers whose asylum claims are being processed. This means they could be in these flats for years, whilst our locals continue to struggle. These flats should be prioritised for local people, including those experiencing homelessness or long waits for housing. Why are we always putting others first above our own local needs? This could be a very dangerous move, as these flats are on the seafront where many families visit every year. A lot of these people are unvetted, and could pose great risk to the local community. We have seen this time and time again, and it is still continuing every day.

Retain 5-year ILR Pathway for LGBTIQ+ Refugees in the UK

United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 10 December 2025

The Government’s new asylum policy proposes replacing the current five-year refugee leave with temporary 30-month grants and delaying eligibility for settlement to 20 years for those on the new core protection route. We believe these changes will disproportionately impact LGBTIQ+ refugees negatively The five-year ILR route lets refugees rebuild their lives, integrate and access stability. Replacing it with 30-month renewals for up to 20 years creates harmful insecurity, especially for LGBTIQ+ refugees who face heightened risks of homelessness, exploitation and discrimination. The proposed system adds bureaucracy, worsens backlogs and undermines effective protection and international humanitarian standards.

Protect Refugees Already Promised a 5 Year Path to Settlement.

United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 5 December 2025

I want the Government to protect refugees already on the 5 year route by allowing them to finish the pathway they were promised. This is about basic fairness. People who followed the rules and relied on the Government’s commitment should not be moved onto longer routes. It should not apply for them. Refugees made their plans and rebuilt their lives in the UK based on the Government’s written commitment to a 5-year settlement route. Changing this after status has already been granted would break that promise and create serious uncertainty for families who have already fled conflict, persecution, and danger. Many refugees are children, have disabilities, or are recovering from trauma, and long delays to settlement would harm their stability, education, and mental health. It is not fair at all
