Allocate an additional £3b to the Defence Housing Strategy

United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 14 June 2026

I believe that an additional £3 billion investment into the Defence Housing Strategy 2025 would effectively cover the cost of many maintenance issues and tackle problems such as damp, mould and asbestos, vacancy backlog in defence housing, HVAC malfunction, and improper contractor performance. The government could tackle these issues by allocating £1.05 billion to Contamination issues and using the money to conduct permanent repairs with Amey and VIVO and upgrade insulation. The Vacancy Backlog Issue with £900m could prioritise longest-empty military properties for emergency restoration and modernising amenities. HVAC appliances could be improved with £600m with green energy upgrades, and Contractor Performance with £450m to introduce financial penalties and regular inspections.

Self defense reform

United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 13 June 2026

Change UK self-defence laws to allow law-abiding adults to legally carry pepper spray for personal protection. Introduce appropriate safeguards with strict penalties for misuse, while giving people a non-lethal means of defending themselves against violent attacks. The UK allows reasonable and proportionate self-defence, yet law-abiding citizens cannot legally carry pepper spray for personal protection. We believe Parliament should review this law in light of concerns about violent crime and knife attacks. Pepper spray is a non-lethal self-defence tool used legally in many countries. We believe adults should be able to carry it for personal protection, subject to appropriate safeguards, age restrictions and penalties for misuse.

Legalise Regulated Non-Lethal Self-Defence Tools

United Kingdom · UK Parliament · 9 June 2026

Rising knife crime and violent attacks can leave citizens vulnerable when police cannot arrive instantly. While some self-defence can be legal, the public lacks practical tools. Legalise self defence tools such as pepper spray to help save lives of men, women and children. Legalise regulated non-lethal self-defence tools for law-abiding residents. Ordinary people, including men, women and older children, have limited means to protect themselves from violent attacks. We feel incidents such as the recent Belfast attack show that police cannot always arrive in time. We propose legalising tools such as pepper spray under strict licensing and training. We believe this would help save lives, prevent serious injury, and improve public safety.
