Summary
That this House notes the long-standing, widespread and growing support amongst NGOs, professional bodies and the public for the full implementation of the Royal Commission on Long Term Care's recommendation that personal care should be provided free on the basis of an assessment of individual need; supports calls from Age Concern and the All Party Parliamentary Group on Ageing and Older People, that the Government should implement the personal care proposals to end discrimination against older people with chronic health conditions; is concerned that the Government's proposals for free nursing care will leave the current difficulties of division between health and social care remaining; and calls on the Government to introduce legislation to provide free personal care on the basis of need.
