HIGHLAND SUPPORT FOR MIDDLE EAST REFUGEES

That this House warmly congratulates the many dedicated people in the Highlands who have given up their free time since October 2015, volunteering with The Highlands Support Refugees group in Conan Bridge; notes that they have now sent a total of 104 tonnes of aid from the Highlands for refugees from the Middle East; further notes that in the past eight weeks alone 1,854 boxes of aid have been sent to Chios and Lesvos to reduce the suffering of refugees spending the winter in tents in refugee camps on the two islands; and recognises the immense contribution made by the committee of The Highlands Support Refugees and the many volunteers from across the Highlands for their hard work in collecting, sorting and packing donations.
