That this House congratulates Darvel Music Festival for its successful 15th year of bringing world class live music to the Irvine Valley in East Ayrshire; understands that the festival brings people from across Scotland, the UK and overseas to Darvel; recognises the cultural and economic benefits this brings to Darvel and the surrounding area; notes that without the support of local people, businesses and sponsors Darvel Music Festival would not be able to continue; further recognises the support of grant funders over the 15 year period and applauds the hard work and dedication of the Darvel Music Company and all those involved to keep this event going in difficult financial times; welcomes the additional all-year-round event put on by the committee and the philosophy of making Darvel a music town; further notes that one of the festival's regular and popular acts, Skerryvore, won best live act at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2016, the day after its last performance at Darvel; toasts the work of the volunteers with the festival’s favourite tipple, DarvALE; and hopes its 2017 appeal is successful.
