FGM isn’t just a traumatic, painful procedure forced upon countless young girls and women; it’s a lifelong burden that affects our health, relationships, and mental well-being. For many survivors, myself included, reconstructive surgery offers a path toward healing—physically and psychologically. However, the lack of accessible options within the NHS leaves too many of us unable to seek this relief.
