Summary
There has been a campaign for justice for those harmed by the epilepsy drug sodium valproate since 2012, with over 2000 people seeking compensation and recognition of the damages caused by valproate in pregnancy. The Independent Medicine and Medical Devices Review recommends a redress scheme for those who have experienced harm as a result of valproate. The Hughes report discusses eligibility and costings and was given to the Government in February 2024. Families continue to wait, 9 months on, and we ask for urgent action.
