Summary
We urge the Government to fund breast cancer screening at 40+, as thousands under 50 are diagnosed yearly. Early screening can save lives and lessen the need for aggressive treatments. Invest in alternative screening, including options for dense breast tissue, to help ensure no one is overlooked. Screening from 40 could save lives through earlier detection. The U.S. and Australia have earlier screening. Additionally, we call on the Government to promote, encourage, and support the million women who missed their screening invitations in 2021/22, remind newly eligible patients turning 50, re-engage those who have ignored past invites, and promote regular self-checks for early detection in mainstream media.
