Summary
Social media auditing is the past-time of a person, usually referred to as an "auditor", visiting a location with the intention of exercising their rights to film and take photographs at that location. They later upload their footage of the location to social media. We believe social media auditors often attend private or otherwise sensitive locations in an active effort to seek confrontation with the occupiers or staff there. We believe they do this as it makes for more "entertaining" footage to share via social media, which in turn generates more publicity and revenue for them. We believe auditors often behave aggressively and refuse to leave private property. We believe a specific offence could prevent them from being a nuisance in this manner.
