Summary
Some firms can charge drivers commission fees of 25% or more of each fare. This can leave drivers struggling to earn a fair and sustainable income. We think this model places an unfair burden on drivers, who are essential to our transport infrastructure but we feel lack basic rights and protections. 1. Introduce legislation to cap the commission fees that rideshare companies can take from drivers. 2. Support the creation and growth of a UK-based, more driver-friendly rideshare company that operates with fairer practices, more transparency, and better driver welfare. 3. Strengthen regulatory oversight of the gig economy. Drivers deserve dignity, respect, and the right to earn a fair living. Let’s take a stand for fairness and support homegrown innovation in the UK transport sector.
