Summary

We urge the Government to create a law where if one million citizens sign a petition within six months of a law being passed, a binding national referendum must be held, and if voters reject the law, it must be repealed. We believe this would return democratic power to the people. Under the First Past the Post voting system, UK governments have been elected by a minority of the electorate, gaining sweeping legislative powers. We think we need a Citizens’ Veto to let the people challenge laws directly.
