Summary
The UK government should heed the call to break the blockade on Gaza. It should work with other governments around the world to send a flotilla of ships with guarantees of British and international protection. To quote the UN’s Francesca Albanese “Every Mediterranean port should send boats with aid, solidarity, and humanity to Gaza. They shall sail together - united, they will be unstoppable." The situation in Gaza is dire. Over 60,000 Palestinians reportedly have died at the hands of Israel since October 7th 2023. 500,000 people are facing starvation. Over 1000 people have been killed trying to get aid. Freedom Flotilla aid boats have been intercepted attempting to break the blockade at sea. Life-saving cargo including baby formula, food and medical supplies were reportedly confiscated.
