Funding for finger-prick glucose test for all unwell children of any age in A&E

Summary

Fund all NHS A&E departments to do finger-prick blood glucose tests on all unwell babies, toddlers, and children, even if symptoms seem minor, specific, or common, to detect undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes and early DKA, preventing life-threatening complications. Many children with Type 1 diabetes aren’t diagnosed until they develop life-threatening DKA. We think early testing could save lives and prevent trauma.
