Summary
Right now, only the Prime Minister can request an early General Election. We believe the public should also have a clear democratic mechanism to do so. We call on the Government to bring forward proposals to: • Pass a law where a petition signed by over 50.1% of registered voters can trigger an early General Election. • Allow public petitions which receive significantly large amounts of signatures to automatically trigger a no confidence debate in Parliament
