Summary
We ask the Government review the NHS approach to diagnosis, referral and treatment of lipoedema. This should include GP training, access to conservative treatments, and clear pathways to specialist care. Lipoedema is a chronic, progressive condition that is often misdiagnosed as obesity, leading to delayed care and worsening symptoms. NHS access currently depends on location, forcing many patients to self-fund essential treatment. Early diagnosis and appropriate NHS care would improve quality of life and reduce long-term costs.
