Summary
Introduce early mandatory scanning at 9-10 weeks to help reduce miscarriages going undetected. 1 in 4 women suffer a miscarriage. 1-5% of these are known as a "missed miscarriage", which averagely happens between 6-9 weeks and are only detected at the 12 week scan. We believe earlier scanning needs to be introduced to help early detection which will contribute towards ensuring that woman do not suffer medically and do not suffer any long term health issues due to the unguided/ unaided end of a pregnancy. We feel this will also ensure that women get the correct after-support when processing what has happened. In a lot of cases, a missed miscarriage goes unnoticed for 5-6 weeks which can be medically dangerous and pose health problems to females.
