Summary
Introduce a mandatory national QR code identification system displayed in the rear passenger area of all Hackney Carriages. When scanned, this QR code could include the driver’s full name, photograph, badge/licence number, the vehicle registration and current licensing status. A mandatory QR code system could: - Allow discreet verification of driver identity - Improve passenger safety and confidence - Support rapid reporting of inappropriate behaviour - Increase accountability and professionalism - Help prevent misconduct and impersonation - Support safeguarding obligations The purpose of this petition is to allow lone people to feel safe when travelling in these Hackney Carriages (Black Cabs). There have been reports of misconduct, especially with young women.
