An amendment to reduce the authorization level under the bill from $15.9 billion to $14.2 billion; reduce authorization levels for public housing from $2.0 billion to $1.7 billion; reduce the authorization for Section 8 low-income housing programs from $5.9 billion to $5.0 billion; reduce the authorization for the UDAG program from $225 million to $200 million, and reduce funding for rural housing programs from $2.1 billion to $1.9 billion. ? The amendment would also increase funding for rental rehabilitation assistance from $75 million to $200 million; eliminate the authorization of $99.5 million for Housing Development Action Grants (HODAG); reduce the authorization for public housing operating subsidies from $1.6 billion to $1.5 billion; reduce funding for the Congregate Services program from $13 million to $3.4 million, and eliminate the authorization of $100 million for the Nehemiah Housing Opportunity program.
