HAMDT 48 (101st)

An en bloc amendment authorizing $1 million for the administration of an Education Department program to establish between 10-20 education performance demonstration projects in which qualifying schools would be permitted to combine funds from various programs relating to applied technology education. Said programs would be exempt from federal regulations, other than civil rights or safety regulations, or regulations prohibiting the diversion of public funds to pivate use. The amendment would require such demonstration projects be directed to areas with high poverty rates and that geographical distribution and urban-rural distribution be taken into account.
