An amendment to exempt mining claims located within the boundaries of the Mojave National Park from the provisions of the Mining in the Parks Act. The effect of the amendment would be to preserve certain mining claims that would not be considered valid under the bill, thus allowing the claimholders to continue exploring for minerals and to mine in the national park. The amendment also would have the effect of exempting mining claims in the Mojave area from the more stringent environmental requirements that otherwise would apply once the area becomes a national park.
