HAMDT 932 (98th)

An amendment to the Roe substitute amendment to add a new section dealing with sewage sludge. The amendment requires the EPA to identify within 18 months toxic pollutants in sewage sludge that may adversely affect human health or the environment. Within 30 months regulations for the control of such toxins must be published by EPA. If such regulations are determined not to be feasible by the Administrator he must promulgate a program of management that will protect public health and the environment from those pollutants. The amendment authorizes scientific studies, demonstration projects, and public information and education projects to carry out the provisions of the amendment and appropriates up to 15 million dollars for FY'85 to carry them out.
