A joint resolution concerning peace in the Middle East.

Summary

Expresses the sense of the Congress that the United States should seek a peace settlement in Middle East based on the following principles: (1) acceptance of the borders and the territorial integrity of all states in the region; (2) termination of all claims or states of belligerency and development of full diplomatic and economic relations among all parties to the agreement; (3) Israeli withdrawal to borders approximating those of June 5, 1967; (4) Palestinian self-determination within the West Bank and Gaza subject to Palestinian recognition of and respect for Israeli sovereignty and integrity; (5) permanent demilitarization of the West Bank and Gaza; and (6) guaranteed unhindered access to an undivided Jerusalem for persons of all faiths. Expresses the sense of Congress that a settlement based on such principles should be guaranteed by one or more of: (1) the United States; (2) the United Nations; (3) the members of the Common Market; and (4) the integration of Israel and other Middle East states into the Western alliance.
