A bill to repeal the Gun Control Act of 1968, to reenact the Federal Firearms Act, to make the use of a firearm to commit certain felonies a Federal crime where that use violates State law, and for other purposes.

Summary

Repeals the Gun Control Act of 1968 and reenacts the Federal Firearms Act. Provides that anyone using or carrying a firearm or destructive device to commit a felony prosecutable in a United States court or which is unlawful in the State in which it occurs, shall, in addition to the punishment provided for such crime, be sentenced to a term of imprisonment for not less than one year nor more than ten years. Requires in the case of a second or subsequent conviction the imposition of a term of imprisonment of not less than two nor more than 25 years. Stipulates that in such case the sentence: (1) may not be suspended; (2) may not include probation; and (3) may not run concurrently.
