Summary

American Property Claims Against Ethiopia Act of 2005 - Prohibits U.S. assistance (other than humanitarian and disaster assistance) to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia until the President certifies that the Government of Ethiopia has taken appropriate steps to return or provide equitable compensation to U.S. citizens and certain entities for property that has been nationalized or otherwise seized by the Ethiopian Government in contravention of international law. Directs the Secretary of the Treasury to instruct U.S. executive directors to international financial institutions to oppose financial or technical assistance to Ethiopia until such certification.
