Summary

Prohibits, subject to valid exising rights, for five years, all mining activities and entry of claims within any area of the National Park System. Authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to acquire whatever lands or land interests are necessary to assure that such areas are managed in accordance with this Act. Directs the Secretary to submit to Congress, within one year of enactment, a survey of valid existing rights and an estimate of the cost, along with suggested priority of acquisition. Authorizes the appropriation of $1,000,000 for such survey and report. Makes conforming amendments to specified Acts.
