A bill to amend the Gun Control Act of 1968 to provide for separate offense and consecutive sentencing in felonies involving the use of a firearm.

Summary

Amends the Gun Control Act of 1968 to require that whoever uses or carries a firearm during the commission of a felony for which he may be prosecuted in a Federal court be sentenced to a term of imprisonment for not less than one year nor more than ten in addition to the punishment provided for the commission of such felony. Requires that in the case of a second or subsequent such conviction, the felon be sentenced to a term of imprisonment for not less than five nor more than 25 years. Declares that: (1) the execution of imposition of any term of imprisonment imposed under this Act may not be suspended, and probation or parole may not be granted; and (2) any such term of imprisonment may not be imposed to run concurrently with any term of imprisonment imposed for the commission of such felony.
