Summary

Revises the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act by directing the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration to make grants to State planning agencies of not more than 50 percent of the cost of the construction, acquisition, or renovation of any correctional institution located in a metropolitan area of that State, if such correctional institution meets modern standards for such institutions and is not designed for or intended to be used for the confinement of more than four hundred individuals at any one time.
