A bill to revise certain provisions of title 5, United States Code, relating to per diem and mileage expenses of employees and other individuals traveling on official business, and for other purposes.

Summary

Increases the per diem allowance of Federal employees traveling on official business within the continental United States; and increases the reimbursement for necessary travel expenses in excess of the per diem allowance. Directs the Comptroller General to conduct annually a study on the actual cost a mile to Federal employees for the use of privately owned vehicles. States than an employee shall not use a privately owned motorcycle, automobile, or airplane, under specified conditions, unless authorized in writing to do so in the travel authorization.
