Summary

National Commission on Alternatives to Busing Act - Establishes a 15 member National Commission on Alternatives to Busing to: (1) study the availability to local educational agencies for achieving desegregation of the elementary and secondary schools administered by such agencies and for assuring equal educational opportunity for students within such schools; and (2) organize and convene a national conference to solicit and receive the opinions and recommendations of interested persons. Enumerates various alternatives to busing which the Commission shall investigate and evaluate. Designates the conference required to be convened under this Act as the National Conference on Alternatives to Busing. Requires the Commission to transmit a report to the President and the Congress two years after the enactment of this Act setting forth their findings and recommendations and a detailed statement of the proceedings of the national conference. Terminates the Commission one year after the submission of its report.
