Summary

Automobile Fuel Economy Standards Act of 1984 - Amends the Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Savings Act to state that the average fuel economy standard for passenger automobiles manufactured after model year 1984 shall be a minimum of 27.5 miles per gallon. Authorizes the Secretary of Transportation to amend such average fuel economy standard for model year 1986 and beyond to a level determined by the Secretary to be the maximum feasible average fuel economy level for the particular model year. Prohibits the Secretary from amending such standard to a level below 27.5 miles per gallon for any model year.
