Summary

Eliminates, under title II of the Social Security Act (Old-Age, Survivors', and Disability Insurance), the dependency requirements for entitlement to husband's and widower's insurance benefits, so that benefits for husbands and widowers will be payable on the same basis as benefits for wives and widows (under present law a widower must be able to show that half of his support was derived from his wife's earnings in order to qualify for survivors benefits).
