Summary

Office of the Public Tax Counsel Act - Establishes in the executive branch the Office of the Public Tax Counsel, to be headed by a Director appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. Declares that it shall be the function of the Office, upon the request of any person, to provide legal advice, legal representation, and other appropriate legal services to such person with respect to: (1) the filing of a petition with the United States Tax Court for the redetermination of a deficiency; and (2) the filing of a claim for the credit or refund of any overpayment. Provides that the Director shall establish district offices in each internal revenue district.
