Common Sense Currency Act of 1997

Summary

Common Sense Currency Act of 1997 - Directs the Secretary of the Treasury to incorporate in the redesign of each currency denomination these features: (1) a different size note; (2) large high-contrast numerals on a uniform background; (3) a clearly differentiated color scheme; and (4) specific engraved marks, both visible and invisible. Requires the redesign of U.S. currency to be cost-effective and have: (1) readily identifiable denominations; (2) no need for special devices other than everyday aids for identification of currency by the visually impaired; and (3) tactile features (including color and size features) to enable the blind and the visually impaired to use the currency.
