A bill to authorize designated employees of the National Park Service to make arrests for offenses against the United States, and for other purposes.

Summary

Provides that any officer or employee of the Department of this Interior, designated by the Secretary of such Department to maintain law and order and protect persons and property within areas of the National Park System, may, in the performance of his duties: (1) carry firearms and make arrests, under specified circumstances, without warrant for any offense against the United States; (2) execute specified warrants or process; and (3) conduct investigations of offenses against the United States committed in the National Park System. Authorizes the Secretary to designate officers and employees of any other Federal agency or law enforcement personnel of any State or political subdivision thereof to act as special policemen. Empowers the Secretary to provide reimbursement to a State or its political subdivision for expenditures incurred in connection with its activities within the National Park System which were rendered pursuant to this Act.
