Summary

Autistic Children Research Act - Provides, under the Public Health Service Act, for the Director of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to: (1) plan and develop a coordinated autism research program; (2) collect, analyze and disseminate all data useful in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of autism; and (3) establish comprehensive, coordinated diagnostic and evaluation procedures for early detection and effective guidance for autistic children. Authorizes appropriations of such sums as are necessary to carry out such provisions. Authorizes $500,000 for fiscal year 1976 and $5,000,000 per year for fiscal years 1977-1980 for loans and grants to any public or private nonprofit entity operating a center with education programs for autistic children.
