Legal Practice Equal Opportunity Act

Summary

Legal Practice Equal Opportunity Act - Provides, under the Economic Opportunity Act, that in any State in which for the preceding two years the percentage of minority group candidates passing the State's bar examination is 25 per cent or more less than the percentage of other candidates taking such examination, any minority candidate may take a special bar examination to test their ability to practice law in such State. Makes it the duty of the Administrator of the United States Courts to appoint such a special bar examination committee. Stipulates that those applicants passing such examination shall be deemed fully qualified to practice law in such State. Provides that the Administrator of the United States Courts shall investigate discrimination against minority group applicants on Law School Admission procedures; postadmission discrimination against minority group law school students; and employment discrimination against minority lawyers. Atuhorizes to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary for the enforcement of this Act.
