Summary

Drug Enforcement Act of 1977 - Directs the Attorney General to establish Special Drug Forces in the Department of Justice composed of law enforcement personnel and special United States attorneys. Directs the Attorney General, upon a request by a State or local government, and following a determination of need by a board of specified Department officers, to dispatch a Special Drug Force to assist such State or local government where there is an unusually large amount of drug trafficking and where the law enforcement and criminal justice system is unable to prosecute effectively violators of the Controlled Substances Act.
