Summary

Residents and Public Interest Attorneys Deferment Act - Amends the Higher Education Act of 1965 to provide, under the Federal Family Education Loan, Federal Direct Student Loan, and Perkins Loan programs, student loan repayment deferment for borrowers: (1) during a period of medical or dental internship or residency; (2) up to two years of serving in a public service fellowship with any public entity, such as service under certain provisions of the National and Community Service Act of 1990; or (3) up to two years of full-time employment as a public defender or prosecutor.
