Summary
Department of Environmental Protection Act - Redesignates the Environmental Protection Agency as the Department of Environmental Protection, to be headed by a Secretary of the Environment, who shall be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. Establishes in the Department, among other entities: (1) an information resources management steering committee; (2) a Chief Information Officer; (3) a Bureau of Environmental Statistics; (4) an Office of Environmental Justice and an associated advisory committee; and (5) a Science Advisory Board. Directs the Secretary to encourage greater public access to, and use of, departmental information and develop a public access system containing an inventory of the Department's public information. Sets forth provisions for strategic planning and performance measurement, use of scientific information, conflicts of interest, and contract administration.
