Customs Service Field Efficiencies Act of 1987

Summary

Customs Service Field Efficiencies Act of 1987 - Prohibits a major customs field reorganization from being implemented unless: (1) the Commissioner of Customs of the U.S. Customs Service submits written notification of the proposed reorganization to the Congress; and (2) there is enacted a joint resolution of approval of such reorganization. Describes a major customs field reorganization as any field reorganization, consolidation, or other administrative action which would: (1) result in significant reduction in force of employees of the Customs Service, other than by means of attrition; (2) eliminate or relocate or significantly reduce the number of employees assigned to any district, regional, or border office of the Customs Service; or (3) provide for a regional, district, or area office of the Customs Service to be managed by a commissioner or director of another region, district, or area office, for a period of more than 60 days.
