Summary
National Hispanic University Act - Directs the Secretary of Education to make grants to the National Hispanic University in California in order to foster higher education and professional education opportunities for Hispanic and other language-minority students, increase U.S. multicultural and multilinguistic resources, and provide continuing education for professionals in international business and diplomacy. Requires that 70 percent of the amount of such grant be used to support the University's students through scholarships, grants, counseling, and other assistance. Requires that 30 percent of the amount of such grant be available to promote the institutional development of the University through faculty development management, academic program development and improvement, equipment acquisition, and other related efforts. Requires the University to submit an annual report to the Secretary describing the use of grant funds, program accomplishments, and progress toward accreditation. Authorizes appropriations for such grants for FY 1985 through 1989.
