Summary

Sentencing Option Act of 1989 - Amends the Federal criminal code to authorize the court, in imposing a sentence of between 12 and 16 months' imprisonment, to find a defendant eligible for placement in a disciplinary prison. Specifies that such prison shall: (1) require inmates to adhere to a highly regimented schedule characteristic of military basic training; and (2) provide to inmates appropriate educational, drug, and other counseling programs. Credits inmates with four days toward completion of a sentence for each day served in a disciplinary prison.
