Summary

Federal Anti-Discrimination Act of 1985 - Establishes the Commission on Equitable Pay Practices to study: (1) whether the Government's position-classification system and compensation systems are in compliance with specified provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act relating to equal pay for equal work; (2) whether the Government is in compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in regard to hirings and promotions of Federal employees; (3) the effectiveness of Government programs regarding the advancement of persons of a particular sex, race, or ethnic group; and (4) any trends or patterns relating to promotions or advancements of such persons. Requires the Commission to give particular consideration to matters relating to women. Requires the Commission to develop recommendations for enhancing Government efforts to achieve equality of opportunity in Federal employment for underrepresented groups and to improve the efficiency of Government compensation practices. Requires a report to the Congress within 18 months of enactment of this Act. Terminates the Commission 90 days after it submits its report.
