Preventive Environmental Protection and Waste Reduction Assistance Act

Summary

Preventive Environmental Protection and Waste Reduction Assistance Act - Directs the Administrator to establish, in the Environmental Protection Agency, the Office of Waste Reduction to administer programs on waste reduction and waste minimization. Requires the Office to administer a waste reduction information clearinghouse and matching grants program to States to assist in the establishment of innovative waste reduction programs. Limits grants to five years and a maximum of 50 percent. Directs the Administrator to establish criteria for measuring the effectiveness of such programs in assisting industry to reduce the generation of environmental wastes, including the provision of specific technical and targeted assistance, funding for experts and training programs, and providing information and research grants. Directs the Administrator to establish the National Waste Reduction Information Clearinghouse which will include a computer data base containing information on management, technical, and operational approaches to waste reduction. Makes such information freely available. Requires the Administrator to report annually to the Congress on the waste reduction information gathered pursuant to this Act. Authorizes appropriations for five years.
