Summary
Community Assistance for Radiation Emergencies (CARE) Act - Amends the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to require the Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, jointly with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other appropriate Federal agencies, to develop, transmit to Congress, and implement a plan for stockpiling potassium iodide tablets in areas within a 50-mile radius of the home port of a nuclear-powered naval vessel. Requires that such plan include a strategy for the storage and delivery of tablets to persons affected by a disaster involving such a vessel.
